It's an easy to forget that social media earns companies money because we its free and we use it on a daily basis, but how does it make money? A social media platform makes money because there are multiple sources of incomes. The main thing to get out of it is the fact how do you have ROI? This chapter focuses on the some topics of ways to earn ROI. Every business makes money from different sources of income, in saying that its the same as social media. You have to keep track of the following Understand if its B2B or B2C (your target market)  Engagement/Pr (how you interact with your target market)  Basic Word of Mouth (WOM) Monitoring  Postings/Promotions  Internal and Third Party tools  This list shows some of the different efforts you can use to help your ROI in social media. Millennials have been known as being the most "tech savvy" people when it comes to dealing with technolgy. When you talk to a millennial who doesn't have a some sort of social media account, you question why they don't. As a millennial, I use social media on a daily basis. I am currently in college going for a marketing degree. Taking this class is going to help me have a better understanding of how I can use my knowledge of traditional marketing and shift my current social media skills to hopefully have a job one day in this field. Let's be honest, we as millennials love social media interactions with huge companies. We can't forget how some kid received a free year's worth of Wendy's chicken nuggets because he was the most retweeted tweet on Twitter. We all want to be that kid, deep down. The power of social media is a constant growth and the tools we have are right in front of us if we work hard enough to learn them.
