Week 1: MKTG 349 Intro to AdWords
Not too sure what AdWords is? You have probably seen it when
you are shopping online. Here, let's test it out. Go to google.com and search
your favorite place to shop. Usually the first link will be an advertisement
but it will direct you to the store's website. This right here is what AdWords
is and you have probably seen it countless of times.
AdWords allow people to create their own advertisements by
using keywords that are searched for on Google. Using AdWords, you can record
your return on investment as well as see how many people are clicking on your
ad. When creating an ad, you would use a tool called estimated traffic summary
that helps provide an estimate of your cost. Every time someone clicks on your
ad you will have to pay for it. Here’s the idea, by paying for an ad you hope
it provides intriguing information for someone to click on it and purchase
whatever it is you are advertising. This can all be tracked through statistics on
AdWords. If you are spending a certain amount of money in advertisements and
your sales revenue increases, this means you’re doing it right. On the other hand,
if you aren’t receiving anything from it you may want to change it. It’s all a
guessing game but with the provided tools and statistics from AdWords you will
be getting it in no time.
