MKTG 345-Week 7- Removing referral spam

The fist step to removing spam is finding the spam. Inside Google Analytics you would pull up following Reports>Acquisition>All Traffic>Referrals. Once you have this it's important to change the date, since I have no had my blog that long I will look at the past 30 days. You can change this on the top left corner by the dates. Using this data I found I have not received any spam.

Directly looking at the bounce rate you can determine what is spam. If there 100% bounce rate or 0% or if there is more than 10 sessions, that would be considered spam. One method of preventing this is creating a filter through Google Analytics.

You can do this buy making sure you make a filter in the test view and testing this filter before applying it to your actually page. Testing this will help from messing with your data you have collected over the period of time.
