MKTG 347- Week 14- Kiosks better than Cashiers?

Image
If you have gone to a fast-food restaurant lately you may have been hit with the "download our app!". Many fast-food restaurants have created a mobile app customers can download to their phones. Along with this they have created kiosks to order your food from as well. In an  article  it shows how many are shifting to order automation such as Panera, McDonalds, Dunkin' Donuts, and Starbucks. They are shifting to this to help those customers have a faster experience than their already fast-food.  McDonald's installed 14,000 kiosks and Panera Bread has added them since 2015. From a personal experience, I have seen an increase in mobile ordering in the past few years. Especially with Dunkin' Donuts because they have pushed it more on customers. They offer better deals to those who use mobile ordering more because it's a better way to ease a customer into trying something new. This way they get something more from the experience. One quote that stuck out ...

MKTG 347- Week 13- Amazon Go Store

Image
Even if we are not on board with AI, companies are definitely jumping into AI. One company that is starting with this is Amazon. They created a store that revolves and works on AI which is very cool. Amazon Go is a store without employees and everything is tracked with sensors. This is based out in Seattle. You basically walk in and walk out without physically paying for your items at a cashier. This is the way it works, you download the Amazon Go app to your phone. You scan this when you walk into the store. Walking around and pick the things you want to buy and add them to your cart. Every time you take something off the shelf the sensor recognizes it and added this to the list of your receipt. After grabbing what you want you basically are allowed to just walk out of the store and it will charge you with what you purchased. After the initial first day it was opened many consumers were upset with the fact that they had to wait in line to enter the store because it was suppos...

MKTG 347- Week 12- Which are you?

Image
This question has been asked a lot the past year, how do you feel about AI? Maybe I'm still scarred as a child from the movie Smarthouse that was on Disney. It also doesn't help that I'm sucked into Black Mirror. Which if you haven't seen either of these, you're missing out. I fall into the optimist of AI if it is works for the positive instead of the negative. Growing up in an age where technology was growing with you, it's a different perspective compared to those who are just learning how to use it. I'm no professional on technology but I feel I have a good amount of knowledge on topics. My biggest reason I am hesitate is the fact of control. Being in control of things is not only with technology but life in general. In saying that I see the positive impacts it can make on the world. It can help so many things if we just allowed it but then it's a double ended sword of questioning if something bad could happen. That's why I believe in AI o...

MKTG 347- Week 11- Autonomous Cars

Image
Today, we drive our own cars typically as the driver.  Then there are sometimes we will order ubers, but years from now we will be sharing the road with technically self-less ubers. Autonomous cars are predicted to take over our roads which is causing people to debate about. What are autonomous cars? It's simple.  Autonomous cars aka self-driving cars are "basically machine learning involves teaching a computer how to do something. To get a bit more specific, you end up teaching a machine learning algorithm. Technology has innovated tremendously for years in which it is hard to keep up with it. This technology has been developed for years and now we are starting to hear more about it in the news. It's more on the topic of Artificial Intelligence, which is what these next few blog posts will be relating to.

MKTG 347- Week 10- Artificial Intelligence Radar

Image
Artificial Intelligence should be on everyones radar because business's are using it everyday. This can be seen by Amazon and those self-driving cars. Of course, if you watch Black Mirror you may think this is a bad thing but is it really? (Black Mirror, thank you for making question if autonomous bee's will kill me one day)  It's scary to think about because we don't fully understand it as outsiders but there are many people who are focused on knowing what AI is. AI helps us understand huge amounts of big data. Of course we have programs that help us understand what we can get from it but AI goes further than that. Throughout the next few weeks I will be posting more about AI and why we need to keep it on our radar.

MKTG 347- Week 9- Social Media Monitoring

Image
Posting and interacting with people from your social media accounts is very important. Another reason it is important to interact is to create more connections with people so they help gain traffic to your social media accounts. Driving more traffic and interactions on your social media pages play a huge factor into how many people you can reach. The simple way of putting is that you need to create and put content out there that people will interact with.  Creating content may be easy but making sure you are getting clicks and impression will determine if that's the right content to be pushing out. Monitoring these insights are very easy and can be accessed on your accounts. Under your insights page on Facebook for example, you can see how many people viewed your page. This will help when you are trying to reach more people. Another way to use this information is if you are trying to work with sponsorships from other companies. You can show them these insights and how many ...

MKTG 347- Week 8- Hootsuite

Image
Hootsuite is basically a command center for all your social media platforms. A great tool where you can connect your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. This dashboard helps you control your engagement with your fans on all of those social media platforms. The basic idea of this is to have all your social media on one screen where you can schedule posts that not only goes to your Facebook but can also be posted onto your Twitter and Instagram. It's another way to stay connected but it can also resolve problems.  Companies may have their company twitter but also a support twitter account on one page. This way they can see the interaction with their main account and if they see people tweeting out problems to the main account the support account and intervene by showing them possible fixes. This can shown on the support account instead of drawing attention from the main account. It's a better way to handle situation.
