MKTG 345-Week 10 - Fun with E-commerce: Gumroad

Image
Conversion  Direct conversion tracking analytics is done on Google Adwords. The direct link to this is showing how many actually are purchasing through your ads on google. Comparing which ad generated the most and which you could move around to make it more effective. Infersion This is where you "infer" what is going on but don't really know if thats truly what is happening. This is done typically through billboards, television, radio, etc. You advertise hoping people see your product in which they go out and purchase the item. You truly never know how effective it is based on those advertisements but you can infer. This is where Gumroad comes into play. Gumroad had built-in analytics that shows you how many people visited the site and purchased an item. This is a great starting point for basic analytics.

MKTG 345-Week 9- WCIYP Ch. 7 Self-Inventory, Part 1

Image
As a college student who is looking for jobs, sometimes you get lost in the idea of "your dream job" because you feel the need you have to pay off your student loans. Applying for every job out of college and trying to work as much as possible just so that you aren't swimming in debit (even though we all will be). This means you'll take whatever job comes your way, even if its not something you would dream of doing. This is our problem. You can achieve your dream job or a place of employment where you actually enjoy going to everyday. One tip I found the most useful from this book is the fact you need to create a self-inventory. Brainstorming how great you are as a person and what you're looking for out of a job will create a better environment for you. My next blog post will be going in more depth of my self-inventory. This begins with the mental preparation. Ask yourself "Who am I?" You shouldn't think of it in the past, for example "I ...

Looking back at last week's blog we were talking about Shopify. A great tool to create advertisements is using Google Adwords. You can connect your Google Adwords account with you Shopify store to see your generate you ads. This also allows you to track your data. I have a section on my blog dedicated to Google Adwords, but for this blog post I'll briefly explain what it is. Google Adwords allows you to generate ads through searching on Google. Connecting your Shopify is going to help with analyzing the data you receive from your ads that generate. It will cost some money but it will not be very expensive.

MKTG 345-Week 8- WCIYP Ch. 6 What to Do When Your Job-Hunting Just Isn't Working

Image
Traditional Approach Job-hunting, in a traditional sense, is going out and taking the steps to find a job where you are paid money. This can be your dream job or it can be just a job that you work at to gain experience for your future job. The approach to this is looking online for postings, submitting resumes and how to approach employers. You may have done all the steps in order to find a job but still have not received a job. This is where the next approach comes in. The Parachute Approach Understanding what job you are looking for all comes down to your dream job. This approach is more driven on the basis of are you going after what you feel best fits your skill sets and knowledge? If you answer was yes then you're in the right spot. One example of this approach is in regards to the question "How do you contact them?" in the parachute approach you would be a bridge-person. That means you connect with people who work there now. If not that company another tip...

MKTG 345-Week 6 -Reviewing Performance of Campaigns

Image
Key words When analyzing google analytics are session and bounce rate. Sessions refer to those who spent time on your blog or website. They click through and go to more pages inside but thats the opposite with bounce rate. Your bounce rate shows the amount of people who just go to your site and click out of it. Looking at trends  An example of a trend would be inside Blogger. Reaching this feature you would go to Blogger>Stats>Overview. This should show a trend, if you have had your blog for awhile you can change the feature on the top right to view all time. Below is a screen grab of my current trend on blogger. Since I have had this blog for almost a year it had

MKTG 345-Week 7- WCIYP Ch. 5: Six Secrets of Salary Negotiations

Image
This chapter revolves around six secrets of salary negotiations, for the sake of this blog I will cover two I personally find very important. Secret #3 Never Be the First One to Mention a Salary Figure. You don't want to set yourself too lower and at the same set yourself too high. You always want your employer to be the first to give you a figure so that you can negotiate with them. Secret #4 Research on Typical Salaries for Your field and in That Organization. Having a rough idea of a figure when you want to negotiate will help you get paid what you want to be paid. This book gives many websites but I want to look at  salary.com . I searched "marketing in Los Angeles California" and my results showed they make roughly $58,484. This is a great tool because you can also compare different jobs.

MKTG 345-Week 7- Removing referral spam

Image
The fist step to removing spam is finding the spam. Inside Google Analytics you would pull up following Reports>Acquisition>All Traffic>Referrals. Once you have this it's important to change the date, since I have no had my blog that long I will look at the past 30 days. You can change this on the top left corner by the dates. Using this data I found I have not received any spam. Directly looking at the bounce rate you can determine what is spam. If there 100% bounce rate or 0% or if there is more than 10 sessions, that would be considered spam. One method of preventing this is creating a filter through Google Analytics. You can do this buy making sure you make a filter in the test view and testing this filter before applying it to your actually page. Testing this will help from messing with your data you have collected over the period of time. MKTG 345-Week 6- WCIYP Ch. 4: Sixteen Tips About Interviewing for a Job ... sorta

Image
The journey of What Color is your Parachute? has given many tips and tricks on getting your resume ready but now we are heading to the job interview. Scary right? Inside this chapter it gives sixteen tips but I want to focus on two key tips I thought was very useful. Tip # 11 Evidence of your skills. You can talk all the game you want in an interview but at the end of the day it will be your evidence that speaks for yourself. Showing the employer evidence that you are good at something will show them that you stick to your word. Tip #12 Even if you worked for the spawn of Satan, still don't bad mouth previous employer(s).  If you are willing talking bad about a past company it raises red flags of what you could say about a new place of employment. A company doesn't want to be talk about negatively. Another tip is do not post about it on social media ,Remember, it could show up when you google your resume.

MKTG 345-Week 5- Getting Traffic for Analytics

Image
Best way to gain traffic to your blog is to promote it on social media! You can post your blogs on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and any social media you have. Creating this traffic will help you understand Google Analytics. If you don't have a lot of traffic on your social media posts there's something to help that. For example, Facebook has this cool tool where you can promote your post to more people. You have to click the promote button on the bottom of the post, the downfall to this is that it costs money. The biggest pro is that you will gain more traffic which will help you navigate Google Analytics more. Biggest tip when posting on social media is creating a good pitch to make the person click on the link. Another is to make sure you post the link to the blog post and not just your blog's landing page.
