MKTG 345-Week 5- WCIYP Ch. 3: 10 million Vacancies Avaiable Each Month

Job hunting has not changed over the years but the way we job hunt may appear different. Technological advances make looking for a job and applying to a job either easier or harder for some. The underlying goal of job hunting is to obtain a job interview. Somewhat sounds like dating right? Comparing job-hunting and dating is funny to think about, but it's true. You have to ask yourself two main questions for both which are, "Do you like me?" and "Do I like you?". You have to make sure the employer likes you enough to hire you but you also have to make sure that you like the employer. This last part is highly important for everyone, you shouldn't settle for something that you are not going to enjoy.

MKTG 345-Week 4- WCIYP Ch. 2: Google is Your New Resume

Image
You may question why google is your new resume and I'm here to tell you why. Depending on what generation you are apart of you may have a different feel for what Google has to say about you. That's right, what Google has to say about YOU. This is a fun time to pull up Google and search yourself. What did you end up finding about yourself? What you just did was find what your resume may not say about you, good or bad. This information is easily accessible to those who may hire you as a future employee for their company. If you found things you did not want them to see, this is your chance to fix it.  Cleaning up your social media account is one step but one of the most important steps is updating your LinkedIn account. Keeping your LinkedIn profiles up-to-date shows potential hiring managers skills or even certifications you may have. Another thing is posting your projects so then there is proof of your skills. These tips will make you a stronger candidate for your f...

MKTG 345-Week 3- Intro to Web Analytics

Image
Web Analytics comes from the idea of CASA which is short for the core areas of digital marketing. The core areas of digital marketing are; Content/SEO, Adwords, Social Media Marketing, and Analytics. All of these ideas are independent on each other in some form.  Looking directly at Web Analytics this weekly blog is going to be my journey of understanding Google Analytics. It's a free tool that people can use to help get a better understanding of who is clicking on their website. This is not the only thing it does but it's a general idea of what it entails. It's a great way starting point if you want to try other analytics programs/tools.    Creating an account is very easy, all you need is a google account and a website you want to track. For the sake of this learning experience I will be using this as my website. When signing up you just want to make sure you add the property which is your website. This way you can track and start collecting data. Key not...

MKTG 345-Week 3- WCIYP Ch. 1: It's a Whole New World for Job-Hunter

Image
As a college student our main goal after gradating is finding a job in the field we just spent four or more years studying. Many of us will have connections while many others are going to be on a job hunt. Luckily, I am reading What Color is Your Parachute? 2018 by Richard N. Bolles for my Google Analytics course that will help me prepare for the job hunt. Chapter 1 gives a basic foundation of what to expect while looking for a job. I have some background in business courses I took in high school where some of these things have changed drastically. In saying that, I was in high school four years ago as a senior. My resume I had to prepare for my high school class is not even close to what I looks like today. One major topic that book talks about is job-hunting has moved more and more online since 2008. I can see that change in the past four years because when I was looking for a job as a high school I was looking at job postings online but turning in hard copies of resumes. Tod...

MTKG-345-Week 2 - Shifting towards technology

Image
Shifting to technology is becoming an enormous part of everyone's lives, if we are willing to accept it or not. Personally, being a college student I have run into this shift of technology quite quickly. Certain classes will require technology such as looking up homework, or working on an assignment. While other classes are solely based on using a computer or different programs. My major is marketing and at my university most of our core classes are theory based where we heavily rely on a book. Discovering this throughout my business classes many skills for potential jobs require skills in technology. This made me shift more of my classes towards learning how to use technology based programs that I would potentially use in the future. I decided this on my own because I am willing to accept the shift in technology that will be happening in the next few years. An example would be today most traditional marketing firms are shifting their way into digital marketing due to this s...
